What’s in Season in … August & September

In August and September …

Berries: Blackberries, Hawthorn Berries, Rowan Berries, plus Apples, Plums and Damsons are still out in our local areas. Beautiful sight to see all the jewel-like fruit hanging half-hidden in the trees.

Many ground level plant leaves inc. Dandelion, Plantain, Wild Rocket and Horsetail plus, local field mushrooms.

Horsetail is a very bushy plant which resembles a horse’s tail; its delicate, segmented stem, mimics our skeletal system and has among its uses, as a strengthener for bone density, due to it’s high Silica content. Taken to prevent brittle nails and bones; silica is most often found used in supplementary (tablet\pillule) form, or use direct from the herb, in a herbal tincture or tea.
